Announcement made, that our Application to the Arts Council for Website development had been approved. Rachel Baker explained the conditions 1) That the Website needed to adhere to PAS 78 guidelines of good practice in commissioning accessible websites. 2) A copy of your constitution including a memorandum of agreement and articles of association. This should be accompanied by a set of specific principles of engagement for volunteers agreed by the governing body for the organisation.

A discussion followed on the constitution and if we already had something from the past and what type of organisation would be best. Ruth: thought that there wasn't anything formalised. Ghislaine: outlined some of the types of org's we could be. By asking us to do this, ACE are helping us get Node>london on a more formal footing. Keith asked if it would be Ok to write constitution whilst getting on with the website as doing it prior to the website would hold us up. rachel seemed to think this would be OK.

Website development: Ruth: we need clarity on what Nodel 'is' as part of the development. Discussion took place of tools and facilities which the website could have. Keith: we had agreed that the Website needed to be more user-driven and dynamic. We had agreed to develop a site using Drupal. Ghislaine: reflected general desire to build the network, already set up. Keith: explained the funding bid had been based on a series of six meetings. Time scale has been shortened, from Sept- Mar, now Dec-mar, but it was generally agreed that if it wasn't ready by March this wasn't a problem, it was better to get it right than rush the development.

Ruth: asked if there was going to be a Spring 09 festival. Ghislaine: We have to develop tools, use meetings to decide on network, and use the strong brand that we have. Marc: suggested a 2010 festival would be more practical. General discussion about timescales, other opportunities during the year could be explored (eg book launch, website launch) and building network. Ruth: something that raises our visibility of our concerns as a network, useful to build audience access. Marc: Website and NodeL development would be good in light of ICA cut backs in New Media.

POD Book: Adnan updated us on progress, waiting for texts to come in, and edit on the Next Layer. Mia, Anna, Jonas, Adnan and Armin are editing. Electronic version will be available for node londoners.

Keith: Both website and Book could be launched or progress shown at Kinetica Art Fair, Feb 27-Mar 2nd 09. Adnan: title might be Node London Reader 2.0, about Open Media Economics, documentation of Node London. Peer to Peer reviews, creative editing, Lisa H working on Next Layer.

back to website discussion Marc: We need to write of description of Node London on Wikipedia and other similar services, at the moment it's not good. Ghislaine: Other website to look at such as dancetech.net, skype interviews, profiles etc. Larisa: need to avoid looking like a Facebook site. need something more innovative. Phillippa offered to share her experiences of setting up new website, also raised alarm on trying to do too much in too short a time. Keith will co-ordinate meetings, and schedule of web development and constitution. Marc: Drupal requires responsibility on the part of administration. David: Modular desing of Drupal doesn't force us to design the whole website in one go: can introduce new 'Web 2' technologies and see which ones people actually use. Larisa: Software design process has a particular methodology, to avoid anarchy. Adnan: We should try out small scale tools first. The development is ongoing. Marc: whose server is node.London on, what about ongoing costs, hosting etc.? Who owns the domain name? These things need to be sorted once and for all, for all node.London to share ownership, and be part of the constitution.
