[edit] ACE application update & finance
Keith has completed and sent the ACE application last week. We have asked for £5,000 to be divided as follows : (please correct I am unsure of this)
- £2,000 on upgrading the website
- £500 - ?
- £750 marketing
- £250 accounts
- £500 evaluation
- £1000 publication?
Ghislaine had an ACE meeting last week where node.l was mentioned, they were looking forward to receiving the application, and are encouraged by the emphasis on longevity beyond the Spring season. We’ll know by 20th March which poses a problem for marketing, on which we can’t pre-spend.
[edit] Programme, printing, design
The deadline for content, which was Friday, has been extended to Tuesday 12th pm. Everything must be perfect at that point and all logos and sent to annacolin at gasworks dot org dot uk. Logos to go at the bottom of the poster. There is no flexibility in this deadline
It was agreed that clusters of activity linked to one group/organisation should have one square on the poster, not one for each event. Singular events still just have their own square. Number of squares must be finalised by tonight. All info should be uploaded onto the wiki in its exact finalised form, and any clarifications emailed to Anna C at the same time. Anna C has sent an email notice on the discuss list.
It was agreed to have some kind of message on all print material to the effect of ‘this season is growing – keep checking the website for updates’ plus the url. This should be the only link – a message somewhere needs to state that for each event people must go to the calendar on the node.l website. Somehow all programme messages must also encourage new participation.
The ‘where when what who’ keywords would dictate the order of the information, but wouldn’t appear as they do now.
Saul’s brief intro text to the new season needs some editing and finalising.
Given the small resources, space and a relatively complex brief, it was agreed that Jerome's current design based on typography was the clearest thing.
Atty has rejigged the node.l website with springy green flowers so it was suggested that while designs can’t be made to match, they should share the same colour – the poster go green, or the website take on the poster’s ‘hyperlink’ blue. After this Jerome should just follow his nose design wise.
Frederick suggested that the poster be designer so that each square can be enlarged into individual posters – Jerome to make a template for ‘squares’ to be printed out individually. Each of these should still have the basic node.l info linking it back to the central project.
[edit] Volunteering
Ghislaine, in impressive telethon style, began appealing for contributions to the pool of VOs needed for jobs. A call must be made to non present contributors to make their effort too.
- Programme poster – Anna C
- Coordinating meetings – Keith and Leanne
- Documentation – Julie to coordinate, the following to contribute: Alex, Saul, Laura, Mo (sp?) and Adnan. All groups also to organise their own documentation and submit moving image if they wish under a CC licence to archive.org. Julie to make a wiki for all other forms of documentation.
- Evaluation – a section of this wiki can be made for self evaluation and David, Frederick and Ghislaine will discuss methodologies eg qualitative vs quantitative measures.
- Press – Mia and David to draft first press release, to be shown to his journalist friends and then picked apart/modified by the group until it can go. Finalised by the 19th so draft will come soon. (Draft being developed here:) [1] Can someone locate the old press material?
All groups will do their own marketing however each must use the same general intro text to be drafted in order to unify the project.
If this does not work we need a unified press pack that everyone has and is very familiar with, so everyone can give a strong picture of the entire project. Who to do this?
The sharing of press contacts was discussed. Cross-posting to general mailing lists was agreed as ok, if apologies given, but cross-posting to press lists a definite no no. How are we going to share contacts? At one stage Atty suggested merging all our contacts, but surely this is unpracticable. Much left unresolved here – to be discussed on 25th.
[edit] Advertising of posts as outlined in ACE application
Frederick pointed out that a major problem last time was the lack of a single press person to refer journalists to. This would solve many of the problems above. A press person much be advertised for on Arts Jobs (Keith will be doing this). Suggested that it be posted as a voluntary post, with possible funding pending.
[edit] Website update
The node.l website must be updated in time for the next meeting on 25th Feb. The group agreed Atty’s revamping of the site looked great. It will still be able to host images.
Atty will archive ’06, and the calendar now helpfully goes to the present date rather than 06. Calendar will feature inputted projects. Ilze suggests making the front page have a dynamic loop of featured projects, or Atty suggests having the default view be the next upcoming project. Mia was tired by this time so may have got this down wrong.
Everyone must go online and make themselves a ‘person’ on the website. Atty will give some instructions on uploading projects/’people’ at the next meeting, however those who can should do this as soon as possible to get the calendar filled up.
[edit] Next meeting
Adnan to approach Jim about doing the meeting of the 25th at Space, where there are computers for Atty’s workshop of uploading.
